6 unique eateries – The Vegan Restaurant Guide for Mexico City

I’m usually not into big cities, but vegan restaurants have become my happy places during my travels to Amsterdam, Mexico City, and Monterrey.
Maybe they will also become your happy places 😊 This is a guide to my favorite vegan (some of them even gluten-free) restaurants in Mexico City.

La Otilia $$

This is a small, lovely bakery in Roma Norte. Here they have huge vitrine with cakes. They serve breakfast and offer omnivorous, vegan, gluten-free options, from sweet to savory. This bakery was my first spot in Mexico City, where I got food. They also have free WiFi here. The menu is well explained, with little color codes for various kinds of diets. You can also stop by for a take-away cake if you are in a rush, although the vegan selection is smaller.

Los Loosers $$

Here I had the best Ramen I ever ate (it was only the second time I ate Ramen, actually), but it was seriously so delicious. Los Loosers do have Breakfast, Brunch during weekends, and of course, Lunch. It can get bustling here, that say’s already a lot. Make sure you come on the right time, they start serving Lunch, not before 12:30 pm and even if you are punctual it can take some time to get your food.
Los Loosers has a huge variety of foods like Pizza, Burger, Ramen, Hot Pot, Quesadilla, Corn, Enchiladas, etc. And best it is all vegan!

Vegetal $

You are looking for something Mexican, something fast. Then that’s the place to go. Here you can get Vegan Mexican Street food, kind of. They have Tacos, Gringa, Medialuna, Torta, Burgers. I took some Tacos with mushrooms and some vegan “meat “. Which consists of seitan, almond, pulse,..
It is truly a Mexican restaurant with reasonable prices.

Vegan Tacos in Mexico City

VEGuerrero $

Another vegan Mexican restaurant. Here they serve Breakfast, Tacos, Tartas and Gringos and even very delicious desserts. Veguerrero is a relatively small restaurant hidden in a side street near the Metro Station Guerro and Hidalgo.

Pan Gabriel $$

If you plan to visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, let me give you a hint and book a week before! I went there without a ticket and couldn’t get in. But that’s why I came across Pan Gabriel, a gluten-free, sugar-free and vegan bakery with shops all over Mexico. They have little pastries, unfortunately all packed in plastic.

Plantasia $$

On their website, they say contemporary Asian Kitchen Plant-based. Their menu is vast, and they even have high-quality pictures to see how the dish looks. First, I couldn’t decide, but then I choose the Tacos Peking. It was a good choice. They serve Brunch during weekends and weekdays, only Lunch and dinner.
